What Is JiveIt?
|
JiveIt! is a portal building service offered by HotDiary. When you become a JiveIt! member, HotDiary automatically creates a dynamic portal site for you on 1800Calendar.Com. This is not a regular webpage like on other free
webpage providers, although it looks really simple to begin with. With this dynamic portal you are ready to launch a commercial or non-profit service attracting members to your site or even providing e-commerce solutions.

Do I have to register twice, once for HotDiary and once for JiveIt!?
|
Not really. You register as a member with HotDiary once, and you automatically have access to a free JiveIt! license.

I have already registered with HotDiary. How do I setup a JiveIt! account?
|
Point your browser to Setup Portal. Select either free account or premium account. If you simply need a free account, all you have to do is Sign-In to JiveIt!.

How do I get people to visit and register on my JiveIt! site?
|
Submit your site into search engines, add keywords to your webpages, or even customize your site to make it look attractive. Identify a target audience that you are trying to seek. Layout your goals, and build a custom application service that is more likely to draw this audience to your site. For instance, you could have a theme behind your site. One example, is you could be launching a sports portal. Keep in mind, that a successful JiveIt! site cannot be built overnight. It will take a few months of tweaking before you learnt what attracts and retains people on your site. But with the tools that JiveIt! provides, you know you have solved atleast one problem. And this is, you have some impressive applications that you can expose to your visitors, and this will accelerate your portal business to begin with.

What is a template?
|
A template is an HTML page that is used to display user data. This
data could be a calendar, address book, or something similar. However,
the template contains variables which are place-holders for the data.
It is sort of like a report format. You can design your own template
to display the same data displayed in our templates. Most JiveIt!
admins personalize their templates.

How do I customize my JiveIt! site?
|
Basic customization like logo, title, ad banner, front page design can be done at the time of creation of your account. You can always refine these later over time. However, as you get more experience with JiveIt! you will realize it has more capabilities. For instance, every dynamic page in the JiveIt! site can be designed using your favorite web authoring tool. A dynamic page is a template which contains HotDiary variables. As long as you keep the variables intact, you can pretty much change the layout, add graphics, javascript, change fonts, color or even audio to your JiveIt! pages. Later you will learn that you can even add custom links to your pages, which hook up with your site's applications.

Where do I get the JiveIt! templates?
|
Once you create a JiveIt! account, we build a website for you. For example if your member login is magic, your JiveIt! website URL will be called:
http://www.1800calendar.com/index.cgi?jp=magic
Next, you visit your website, and click on the Admin link and login with your HotDiary or JiveIt! member login. After you login, you will see links to Upload Templates, Download Templates and Download My Templates.

Do I have to display my JiveIt! site on 1800Calendar.Com?
|
You host your JiveIt! site on 1800Calendar.Com but can display
it on any webpage using frames. See how others are creating JiveIt! sites and
hosting them on their portals. The key idea is to use HTML frames
to display your JiveIt! site on any domain.

Do I need to upgrade my JiveIt! site, when HotDiary is upgraded?
|
In most cases, you will automatically get all the upgrades. We designed
JiveIt! so you do not need to upgrade it to get new features.

Do I have to create a database?
|
We create, maintain and backup your database 24x365. You only need
to concentrate on running your portal business.

Can I launch my own Ad banners on my JiveIt! portal?
|
Yes, you can use your own Ad banners or decide to turn off Ads
if you wish.

How do I integrate HotDiary's data with my custom links?
|
You can pass any defined HotDiary variables to your custom links. These could contain data related to calendars, addresses, files or more.
